He is another example of successful authors from India who have made a long lasting good impression on their audience. His debut book was Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found. This book was one of his huge successes. It received the 2005 Kiriyama Prize and it also got to the finals of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize. The book also got nominated for the Samuel Johnson Prize in the non-fiction category. It also received a nomination for the Guardian First Book Award. He is working on a new book about immigrants experiences in New York which is also expected to be a huge success.

4. Preeti Shenoy: Preeti Shenoy is not only an author but also an artist. Her books are mostly based on real life experiences which a lot of people have been able to identify with. This is one of the reasons why her books are so successful. One of her most popular books is Life is What You Make It. This book gained a lot of success and was even on the top books in India in 2011.

5. Amitav Ghosh: This is one of the most popular Indian authors from Calcutta. Amitav Ghosh writes non-fiction and he is very good at it. The Circle of Reason is his debut book and it received the France’s Prix Médicis award in the year 1990.
