Bachelor-of-Technology Lateral-Entry allows applicants to directly enrol into the 2nd year period of the course or to skip the first 2 semesters of the curriculum.
However, this is only available for those who are carrying with them a 3-year diploma from other compatible courses taken in recognized universities.
These courses include but may not be limited to:
1. Bachelor-of-Technology in Civil Engineering
2. Bachelor-of-Technology in Electrical Engineering
3. Bachelor-of-Technology in Mechanical Engineering
4. Bachelor-of-Science in Mathematics
Something to consider is that there are a number of colleges and universities which have varying requirements and prerequisites for B. Tech Lateral Entry.
For those who are accepted into the program as lateral entry students, their course would only last a duration of 3 years instead of the regular 4 years.
This is after undergoing the process and passing the exam that will test your proficiency in the field needed to directly proceed to 2nd year.
What should you expect in B.Tech Lateral-Entry Admissions 2018?
Admission Process
In order to enter the program as a lateral entry student, all you need to do is pass an exam besides having all the prerequisites needed mentioned above.
It is not hectic admissions process for an advantageous 1 year exempt. You can also receive benefits if you are a docile state student. This means that you are a resident of the state where your target university is located.
What’s The Criteria?
First of all, you must have completed your Diploma in Engineering or a Bachelor of Science studies before you are given a permit to take the lateral entry exam. It is also best to inquire about miscellaneous requirements that may vary per state or university.
If you are not a completer of an engineering course, you must at least have taken Mathematics in your past course.
There is also an age requirement to be aware of. You must be 18 years of age and below 26 years old. The age requirement can vary in different states or universities.
Colleges and universities offering B.Tech Lateral-Entry 2018 will only allow those who have achieved a 45% mark in their final semester of their past engineering course. However, those in the reserved category may be allowed to take the Lateral Entry-Exams with a 40% mark. Again, this can vary in different states and universities.
How About The Exams?
If you’re applying for a B.Tech Lateral-Entry Admission, expect to receive an exam consisting of the major subjects covering the entirety of the course.
There may be some colleges and universities with differently modeled exams, but generally these are the subjects as follows:
>Physics
>Chemistry
>Mathematics
Normally, the exam will only consist of less than 150 items divided into the subjects mentioned above.
