Art and its various forms have always been a medium of escapism. The fantasy world a work of fiction provides has been loved by people for various reasons. It could be because people enjoy the sheer flight of imagination, or because they want to get away from their monotonous, humdrum lives for a few hours. Imagine a magical world where you can overpower each other through spells, where you can fly with fairies and talk to animals. The possibilities are endless. This combination of storytelling and fantasy can entertain people, take them places, give them hope, and in some cases, even help them with mental (and physical) ailments.

From kids to adults, all enjoy the beauty of the fictional world in its different genres and forms. But if one has to talk just about kids, what better than cartoons to give them this curated reality — full of talking bunnies, flying unicorns, benevolent fairies and all things magical. One of the most common tropes that has remained constant for years in the animated world is humanisation of animals. This not only helps young children recognise different animals, it also makes them identify their most basic attributes. For example, Tom and Jerry shows the real nature of cats hunting mice, while Bugs Bunny portrays the wit and speed of a rabbit.

For ages, cartoons have provided children both escape and education. Kids not only enjoy the drama, they also fall in love with the characters. A classic example of the same is Grizzy and the Lemmings, a show aired on kids TV channel Pogo. The bear shown in the series is a grizzly bear. While he does have the characteristics of the species, it’s Grizzy’s human-like behaviour that children find both comical and relatable. The lemmings, on the other hand, are rodents found near the tundra biomes in the Arctic. They are known to have periodic population booms, a trait wittily captured in the series. Modern props like chocolate spread, refrigerators and racing cars take the comedy a notch higher. After all, who wouldn’t have a blast watching a tribe of lemmings take on a grizzly bear?

To make this fun never end, the famous kids cartoon channel Pogo brings you a marathon of all-new Grizzy and the Lemmings episodes, to be aired from 15th April at 8pm (Mon-Fri). So, mark your calendars and don’t miss the bus for the most fun ride ever!
