Skill Development in India by the Wave Skills Academy

It is a universally accepted fact that the economic growth and social development of a country depends majorly on the skills and knowledge it possess. India being the second largest populated country in the world and a fast developing economy; there is a need as well as a potentiality for fast skill development in India.
As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, the Wave Group has been making significant and substantial contribution towards the empowerment of the disadvantaged people in the society through the Ponty Chadha Foundation. One of its wings, Wave Skills Academy is imparting skill development and Skill up-gradation to the rural and urban unemployed youths and placing them suitably for generating their own incomes.
The present government of India is committed to all out skill development under the governance of the following apex bodies
• Prime Minister’s National Council on Skill Development
• National Skill Development Co-ordination Board
• National Skill Development Corporation and
• National Council for Vocational Training
The national policy of 2009 targeted for providing vocational training to 500 million people by the year 2002. As a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India Campaign”, the national budget has provided Rs 10,000 crores for entrepreneurship. Under the Rural Livelihood mission, Rs 4,000 crores has been provided to implement the skill development NGO in India programs in collaboration with private firms.
The objectives of the programs are
• Enhancing employability
• Improving productivity
• Adapting to changes
• Improving productivity
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the sense of responsibly of a company towards the community and environment by parting with a part of its profit by voluntarily contributing to the educational and social programs.

Based in Ghaziabad, the Wave Skills Academy has taken up a series of responsibilities. Training of Professionals, 120 to 150 candidates in streams such as soft skills, hospitality, security to be followed by real estate and constructional activities, with free lodging and boarding for the candidates. The campus will have lecture rooms, open areas, simulation camps, stores and administrative blocks. In order to ensure the quality of training, the student-trainer ratio will be maintained at 30:1 that it is believed would add immensely to the national programs of skill development in India.
