Super Bheem aur Avinashi Trimurthy
From myths to comics, the superhero genre has garnered a lot of eyeballs and has created a huge fan base. The basic storyline of the superhero genre revolves around a character with capabilities that make them larger than life, who devotes his/her powers to save the day and help the human race. While the genre’s rise to fame is attributed to the American love of comic books, it has previously existed in other forms. Indian mythology, for instance, brought to the forefront many superheroes way before America could. Lacking universal appeal due to the language and style of storytelling, these mythological characters were not celebrated as much as American superheroes, remaining behind the curtains for the longest time. It was much later that the audience realised their superhero attributes and created a number of fictional art pieces celebrating them. The oldest and most famous of these Indian superheroes is undoubtedly Hanuman, the ardent devotee of Lord Rama. Just like him, various other personalities from ancient Indian texts are like superheroes with transcendental capacities.
Closer home, the one character who has created a stir amongst young Indian viewers is Chhota Bheem, inspired from — you guessed it — a character from Indian mythology. Creators of Chhota Bheem were smart to extract relevant characteristics from Mahabharat’s Bheem to create a personality that instantly clicks with children aged 4–12. With tales of the protagonist and his friends saving the day in the fictional land of Dholakpur, the show has gained huge popularity amongst the audience. Taking heed from the success of these adventure tales, the curators of the show have also come up with Super Bheem movies where Bheem and his friends are seen undertaking out-of-the-world adventures.
The newest addition to the roster of Super Bheem movies is Super Bheem and Avinashi Trimurthy, bringing yet another exciting escapade for the viewers. In the film, a character named Suro is at the centre of it all. Suro hails from Shantidoot, and in an effort to cause destruction in the cosmos, he invokes three statues. The statues, together hailed as the Avinashi Trimurthy, stand as the epitome of destruction. Super Bheem and his team ought to stop them. Will they be able to save the world yet again? Do they have it in them to stop Suro and his Avinashi Trimurthy?
